The VOICE OF HOPE |

|
In order to fully understand our spiritual nature and life at a spiritual level, we need to acknowledge and accept the reality of the Supreme Spirit of life, God, Satan (the devil) - the chief evil spirit, and the spiritual realm in which there exists the battle between good and evil. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” EPHESIANS 6:11-12. The human soul is that which is caught in the struggle between good and evil, between connectedness and disconnectedness, between empowerment and disempowerment, and it is for this reason a strong and loving relationship with God is mankind’s most powerful and effective means of preventing mental illness, broken relationships, physical, mental, emotional, sexual, social and financial abuse, substance abuse, addictive behaviour, crime, bullying, aggression, violence and wars, all of which are the result of dysfunctional thoughts, words, attitudes, actions and reactions of individuals (especially in leadership), groups, communities or countries. Religious leaders and politicians are the most accountable of all human beings in terms of their responsibility to have God’s truth for life (spiritual and religious) understood by the people they serve. Therefore, both religious leaders and politicians have a significant role to play in protecting and nurturing the human soul. This is because religious leaders have a responsibility to impart God’s truth to the people, and politicians have a responsibility to support this truth through the policies and laws of the land they implement and which are enforced through the legal and judicial system. It is for this reason the following quote is of such significance: “Those who say that religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion means.” Mahatma Gandhi By definition religion is: 1. The quest for the values of the ideal life, involving three phases, the ideal, the practices for attaining the values of the ideal, and the theology or world view relating the quest to the environing universe. 2. A particular system in which the quest for the ideal life has been embodied; the Muslim or Christian religion etc. 3. Recognition on the part of man of a controlling super-human power entitled to obedience, reverence and worship. 4. The feeling of the spiritual attitude of those recognizing such a controlling power. 5. A point or matter of conscience, esp. when zealously or obsessively observed: to make a religion of doing something. Taken from the Macquarie Encyclopedic Dictionary. In this 21st century there is no need for wars and no reason why they need to continue, having begun, other than the fact that those in leadership, those who have the power to end such conflict, have not been spiritually enlightened and do not understand God’s ultimate plan for mankind. i.e. (1) love God first with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength, and (2) love our neighbour as our self. “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul....” HEBREWS 6:19 GENESIS 1:26-27 ‘Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.’ |
